One of Samal's Pride is Monfort Bat Cave located at Barangay Tambo,Babak District, Island Garden City of Samal for having the Guinness World Record of largest single colony of fruit bats.

BAT COLONY
Was owned by the Monfort Family a long time ago. The fruit bats lives in cave for more than a decades and as survey estimated almost two (2) million fruit bats living in the cave. the bats can be seen around the cave up down in the wall. Most students from different schools visit to witness how plenty they are. the bats have five (5) entrance and exit in one cave approximately around 75 meters long. Some people tried to measure how ling was the cave but they failed to reach the end. Until now attempts on measuring the cave is still on going.
These overflowing fruit bats inside the cave cramped like an audience having Michael Jackson Concert. Their obstreperous sound normally calls the attention of every tourist afar from the colony to get near their malodorous smell of "Guano". Fetid noisome stinking olid smell of their waste will bring you hurriedly find napkins and handkerchiefs to cover your nose. These guano are not not for sale even if lots of businessman courting to harvest their waste. Don't worry about there smell. It won't stick in your shirt. It is a mix of their urine and their waste.
Monfort Bat Cave awarded by Guinness World Record for having the largest Fruit Eating Bat Colony on year twenty ten as Geoffroy's Rousettes. Because of this award Barangay Tambo, Babak District was known not only in Philippines but the entire world. They never experience a zero visitor everyday. You will not only see bats but you will also learn about the bats an d there roles.
Best time to visit is by sunrise or by sunset:
Sunrise because this is the time they will return home and sleep and you will see the huge dark cloud like colony returning their home as well as in sunset for they will start their night life party.
PS:
In front of the cave in the horizon you will see an island with small green trees and a sand bars.
it is the Vanishing Island where it vanish when high tide comes and when low tide comes you will see sand bars around two (40) hectares wide.
